36-Periods + 90-Minute Online Teen and Adult Driver Education Course
DMV-approved program satisfies Virginia's mandatory classroom driver education requirement for first-time drivers. Featuring flexible, self-paced online modules, the course includes the legally required 90-minute parent/teen component (Va. Senate Bill 78).

Teens ages 15-17 seeking their first Virginia driver’s license
Students who are at least 15 years, 6 months old (can start before obtaining learner’s permit)
Parents who must complete the 90-minute parent/teen component with their teen (required by Virginia law)

Course Framework & Prerequisites
Course Duration & Pace
- Age: Minimum 15 years, 6 months old.
- Permit Status: No learner’s permit needed to begin (required later for behind-the-wheel practice).
- Technical Needs: Reliable internet access and comfortable using a computer independently.

Traffic Rules & Safety: Virginia traffic laws, road signs, traffic signals, and handicapped parking regulations.

Vehicle & Road Handling: Basic vehicle control, maintenance, parking maneuvers, highway driving, and fuel-efficient driving.

Hazard & Risk Management: Defensive driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving prevention, and substance awareness.

Roadway Awareness: Safe sharing of the road with pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, plus organ donation awareness.
90-Minute Parent/Teen Component (Virtual)

Overview: Mandatory joint online session covering Virginia’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws, high-risk driving scenarios, effective family communication, and establishing house driving rules.

Exemptions: Waived for students who are at least 18 years old, emancipated minors, or unaccompanied minors not in parental custody.
